Besides the Bayan Lepas belt, the other two high density development corridors on Penang Island are the western Ayer Itam and northern Tanjung Tokong corridors.
Adopting a similar approach by matching system capacity with projected travel demand, the monorail system has been identified as the most appropriate mode for both corridors. The Ayer Itam monorail line has 13 stations and is 13 kilometres in length.
The 7-kilometre Tanjung Tokong monorail line consists of eight stations. It is proposed to begin at the Komtar integrated interchange station and will terminate at Tanjung Tokong.
Raja Uda and Bukit Mertajam are two high density development areas in Seberang Perai. Raja Uda, an upcoming location in the northwest region of Seberang Perai, lies beyond the KTM rail corridor.
The proposed Raja Uda-Bukit Mertajam monorail line will provide much-needed connectivity between Raja Uda in the northwest and Bukit Mertajam in the southeast of Seberang Perai. It is 28 kilometres in length and will consist of 21 stations.
